Many segments of the DuPage River and it's tributaries are listed in the Section 303(d) Impaired Waters list for Chloride. The leading source of Chlorides is from winter deicing activities. The DuPage River Salt Creek Workgroup has developed a Chloride Reduction Program to address the impacts of winter deicing activities. The program includes annual training workshops for both public agency staff and private deicing operations. They have also devloped several fact sheets for different audiences.
